THE JOB
Old roof stripped and rebuilt in stages
Once the tiles were lifted, the old underlay and battens could be removed and the roof structure checked. The photos below show the work while it was open — before the new roof covering hid the membrane, battens and timber again.

Before the new membrane went down
The roof had to be opened up first. This is the part of a re-roof customers normally never see once the tiles are back on.

Opening the roof makes it possible to check the areas that cannot be inspected properly with the covering still in place.

FINISHED DETAIL
Dry ridge and roofline finished
The final stage included the ridge and roof edges. The ridge tiles were mechanically secured as a dry ridge system rather than relying on mortar alone.
The result is still visibly the customer's existing tiled roof, but the weatherproofing and battens underneath have been renewed.
