The roof was opened up, the old covering removed where required and the new build-up completed before the slates were fitted back into a clean finished roof.

What sits underneath the slates
On a full re-roof, the membrane, battens, timber condition, slate fixings and roof edges matter just as much as the final appearance. Those parts are dealt with while the roof is open, before the slates cover them again.
